RESIDENT BUILDING UPGRADE PROGRAM

Your Building May Be Blocking Up to $113/Month in Government Credits

Ontario's Electricity Support Program (OESP) provides monthly on-bill credits to eligible low-income households. Credits range from $35 to $113 per month depending on income, household size, and heating type. But most older condos aren't set up to let residents access it. If your building uses bulk metering, your credits are locked out.

You can request an upgrade for your building below. We'll reach out to your property management on your behalf. Your identity stays confidential.

ONTARIO ELECTRICITY SUPPORT PROGRAM

What is OESP?

The Ontario Electricity Support Program is a provincial program that provides monthly on-bill credits to eligible low-income electricity consumers. Credits range from $35 to $113 per month depending on household income, household size, and whether the home is electrically heated.

The problem: residents in bulk-metered buildings cannot apply because they do not have an individual electricity account. Sub-metering creates individual accounts, unlocking OESP access for every eligible household in the building.

Based on Ontario low-income household statistics, an estimated 17% of residents in a typical building may qualify. For a 100-unit building, that could represent over $22,000 per year in credits flowing directly to residents who need it most. Actual eligibility varies by building demographics.

Monthly OESP Credit Amounts

Income LevelMonthly Credit
Tier 1 (lowest income)$35/mo
Tier 2$52/mo
Tier 3$68/mo
Tier 4$86/mo
Electrically heated homesUp to $113/mo

Tier placement depends on household income and number of occupants. Indigenous households may qualify for enhanced credits. Visit ontarioelectricitysupport.ca for full eligibility details.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Will my building know I submitted this request?

No. Your identity is never shared with your property manager or condo board. When we contact the building, we present the upgrade program based on the building's eligibility. We do not disclose who submitted the request or that a specific resident reached out.

Is there any cost to me or my building?

There is no upfront capital investment required from the condominium corporation. Voltage Vision covers all meter installation and infrastructure costs. Once operational, residents pay for their individual suite electricity consumption plus applicable service charges as disclosed in our Conditions of Service, available at voltagevision.com.

What happens after I submit?

Our team reviews your building's eligibility and contacts the property management to present the upgrade program. If the board approves, we handle the full installation, certification, billing, and ongoing support.

My building is older. Can it still be upgraded?

Yes. Our program is specifically designed for older condominiums that were built before suite-level metering was standard. Buildings from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s are ideal candidates.
