Electricity Submetering

Fair, transparent electricity billing starts with individual metering. Each unit gets its own meter so residents pay only for what they use.

Get Started

How Electricity Submetering Works

Electricity submetering installs individual meters for each unit in a multi-residential building. Instead of splitting the building's total electricity cost equally or by square footage, each resident receives a bill based on their actual electricity consumption. Meters are connected to a data management system that reads usage, calculates billing, and delivers clear, itemized statements to residents.

Benefits for Property Managers

Submetering removes electricity from your operating expenses, which may help improve your building's Net Operating Income (NOI). You no longer need to manage bulk electricity billing or handle disputes about unfair cost allocation. Voltage Vision handles all meter installation, data management, billing, collections, and resident support.

Benefits for Residents

Residents gain visibility into their own electricity consumption and pay only for what they use. This is fairer than equal-split or per-square-foot allocation methods. Residents who conserve energy benefit directly from lower bills. Low-income residents may also qualify for the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP), which provides monthly credits.
